Wide Axle Beam, available in two sizes, This is a discontinued model, without the IGUS bearings.
Sometimes long is not enough, and you need to go wide. Just bolt the wide axle beam under the existing axle to increase the width by 20 or 40 cm. This can be reversed at any time by simply unbolting the axle beam, and your trailer is back to the original width.
The Wide Axle Beam increases the width of your Carry Freedom Y-Frame trailer to either 85 cm or 105 cm between the wheels. Best results can be had on a Y large, but it will fit to a Y small. This is useful for carrying wide objects like kayaks and canoes.
The Wide Axle Beam fits all trailers since 2003. Trailers built before 2010 will need spacers on the trailer’s quick release wheel axle to match their length to the new axle sleeves. We are happy to provide these. A few M12 washers also work well.

Instructions
TO ATTACH:
You will need a 13Â mm Spanner and 5Â mm Allan key.
Completely remove the two countersunk bolts that hold the load bed onto the axle beam. Replace these bolts with the two longer bolts supplied with the Axle Beam. Fit the new axle beam below the existing trailer chassis and bolt it in place.
Fit the wheels to the new axle beam and make sure they are secure.
TO USE:
Important — Your trailer is much wider than before and more care is needed.
— You will need to cycle further out in the road.Â
— You will need to take corners wider.Â
— Your trailer will not fit through most doors.
